Spec 5.0 version update: 5.0.20260205-21_38_48

A new item spec version 5.0.20260205-21_38_48 is now available for MP_ITEM, MP_MAINTENANCE, MP_WFS_ITEM, and OMNI_WFS feed types. Item spec attribute and enum updates for variant groupings

We’ve updated Omni Spec 5.0 to close gaps in item spec attributes and acceptable values (enums), improving overall item setup and maintenance. Many of these updates also enhance the variant grouping experience by adding newly supported attributes and completing missing enum values, so you have more consistent options across relevant categories.

This change applies to the following feed types in Omni Spec 5.0: MP_ITEM, MP_MAINTENANCE, MP_WFS_ITEM, and OMNI_WFS.

What changed

• Added item spec attributes needed for variant grouping in select product types.
• Added missing enum values (acceptable values), including for variant-related attributes, to align requirements, expand supported options, and reduce validation issues.
• Updated the Belly Button Rings product type by changing the Piercing Gauge Thickness attribute requirement level from recommended to required. This aligns with other body piercing product types and helps ensure all items include an associated gauge.
• Updated the Trading Card Games product type by adding the missing Trading Card Number attribute as recommended.

Examples of updates for variant groupings

These are a few example product types that include new and/or updated attributes and missing enum values to support variant groupings. Updates include, but are not limited to, the product types below:

• Cat litter mats: Size
• Bed sheets, mattress toppers, comforters & duvets, mattress pads, mattress encasements, bed skirts, bed blankets, quilts, bedspreads & coverlets, bedding sets: Bed size
• Ribbons & bows: Size
• Cut flowers: Size descriptor; container type
• Cell phones: Cellular service plan
• Rings: Ring size
• Body piercing jewelry, nose rings, belly button rings: Piercing gauge thickness

Why it matters

• Improved item page experience: Having relevant attributes and complete acceptable values helps ensure items display accurate, consistent variant information on the item page.
• Fewer validation failures: Missing enum values can cause preventable errors during setup and maintenance. These updates close spec gaps by adding missing acceptable values, which reduces validation failures and gives you more relevant options.
• Cleaner catalog consistency: Standardized variant fields improve downstream discoverability and customer experience.
