Walmart Marketplace API deprecation guide
This guide explains how Walmart Marketplace APIs move through legacy, deprecated, and sunset states, what each status means, and how to transition to supported APIs.
Terminology
Walmart Marketplace APIs may be classified using the following terms:
- Active: The API is fully supported and recommended for use. Active APIs receive ongoing enhancements, updates, and support.
- Legacy: The API remains supported and fully functional but is no longer recommended for new integrations. Legacy APIs do not receive new features or enhancements. Walmart recommends migrating to the preferred alternative.
- Deprecated: The API is scheduled for removal in a future release and should no longer be used. Deprecated APIs remain available for a limited time but receive no new features and only critical security or stability fixes. A deprecated API includes a published deprecation date and sunset date. All integrations should migrate before sunset.
- Sunset: After the sunset date, the API is permanently retired. The API may be disabled or removed, requests may return error responses, and no support, fixes, or patches are provided. Documentation may be archived or removed. Continued use after the sunset date is not supported.
Deprecation lifecycle
Marketplace APIs typically follow this progression. Not all APIs move through every stage, but deprecated APIs always have a defined sunset date.
